Who are Jamie and David?
Jamie Salé (sa-LAY) and David Pelletier (pell-ti-AY) are the reigning World and Canadian Champions in Pairs figure skating. They are two of my favorite people around, and are awesome people. What makes them special -- in my mind -- is when you watch them skate, you can't help but feel drawn towards them...they have a unique chemistry on the ice and their programs are so beautiful. They skate with evident passion and are one of Canada's top hopes for an Olympic Gold in Salt Lake City in Feburary.
Brief History:
Jamie and David paired up together in the summer of 1998 after previous careers with different partners. In fact, Jamie and her previous partner Jason Turner represented Canada at the 1994 Olympics, as Jamie was the youngest memeber of the Canadian Olympic Team (16 years old). However, everyone says they were destined to skate with each other, and since their first competition, their chemistry and charisma on the ice has led them to become fan favorites. Together they have won numerous of competitions, they are the current World Champions, Canadian Champions and Grand Prix Champions. They are also the only pair couple in history to have won Skate America three years in a row. A couple both on-and-off the ice, Jamie and David will be one of Canada's biggest gold medal hopes at Salt Lake City, as they make a run for the elusive prize! |
